The excerpt is the well-known 18th Variation from Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, arranged and transcribed by Rex for music roll, and taken from his complete recording of the work on the CD, Aeolia 1001. This was published jointly in 1998 by the Pianola Institute and the Other Minds Festival in San Francisco.
