HERTFORDSHIRE CHORUS is one of the UK’s finest large choirs.It performs in the UK’s major concert halls, appears frequently with national acclaimed orchestras, has worked with Daniele Gatti and José Carreras, and has made numerous recordings.Its members sing regularly in other concerts, including the BBC Proms. David Temple MBE, one of the leading choral conductors in the country, has been its Musical Director since 2000.
Hertfordshire Chorus is known for its high standards and versatility.It is at home in all genres from the well-known to the obscure classical repertoire, baroque to contemporary, music theatre to jazz and rock, including performing on stage with Noel Gallagher. It was engaged to sing in Wroclaw, Poland in Porgy and Bess under Wayne Marshall and has appeared at the London Jazz Festival performing one of its own commissions, Roland Perrin’s Rio Amazonas.The Chorus has a special fund to commission new music which has produced some of the most outstanding and successful new choral pieces of recent times. These have included Will Todd’s Mass in Blue and Ode to a Nightingale, the latter being recorded alongside Codebreaker (James McCarthy) for Signum.
The Chorus has been broadcast on BBC Radio and Classic FM, including live performances of a number of concerts as part of the BBC’s programme of events commemorating the centenary of the 1918 Armistice.
